I've had surgery only twice...

Once on my hand. They used a local - which means they just shut off the blood until your arm/hand go completely numb.

So I'm laying there with my arm completely numb and it's miserable... but nothing I can't handle. About a half hour into the surgery I casually said, "This is miserable. Are you about done?".... and a nurse leaped to her feet, came to my side, pulled out whatever was entering my IV and put in something else... she hadn't pushed the plunger on the syringe (or whatever you call it), a tenth of an inch and WHOA NELLY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I started gasping... but not a bad reaction - just the 'rush' I got. I yelled out, "What the hell was that?".... and the doctors and nurses all started laughing and said, "Feels good doesn't it".... and it did, but at the same time I didn't like it. First of all, I had no idea they were going to shoot that stuff in me. Secondly... it was TOO powerful.

I didn't feel mentally impaired from it... hard to explain. I wasn't in "la la land" but I was definitely "high". After that first 'rush' I calmed down somewhat and it was ok... but I wouldn't want it again. Sometime THAT good can't be good for you.
