I missed Star Trek... when it came out. I was in college and partying. Then I went into the Army.
So somewhere in the 70's it came out in syndication.... I began watching.
Skip ahead - made a friend who was a Star Trek Fanatic. AND... the movie was about to come out. He asked me to go... only time in my life that I got to the theater in the middle of the night and waited in line to be first to view the movie. HOURS! We sat in the first row... my friend's choice although... I like up close as well, for some types of movies.
We were disappointed. To us they seemed to have forgotten, or at least neglected, what made Star Trak great... the characters!
A year later my friend that took me to Star Trek The Motion Picture, good friend, died in a car accident.
Today... I'm no where near as critical today. That first one is still my least favorite... but it's not "bad". PLUS..that was the one I share today with my friend. - JamesJM
