Owning a restaurant is a tuff business. 60% close in the first year and 80% close in the first five years. I have a close friend who is currently a supervisor for about a dozen BK's and he has been in the fast food business for close to 40 years. Staffing has always been a big issue but right now with a 4% unemployment rate (my state) it almost impossible to find help. I know over the years talking to business owners when the unemployment rate is around 8% they can find decent employees but at 4%, forget about it.
Also fast food restaurants are not the gold mine you might think they are. Again according to my friend the average owner nets about 50k a year with high volume locations netting over 100k.
