I wasn't referring to the reasons for the 5th, or the necessity of it. I'm aware of all that. I meant I don't understand why they are so talkative in the first place, even after being read their rights.
There most often comes a point during those interviews when it's obvious the detectives suspect the person being interviewed... I mean it's MORE than obvious, accusatory. AND... the detectives will restate their rights, often several times, even simplifying the language to make sure the person knows they can shut up and/or ask for a lawyer and YET... the person just continues talking away. It's odd, to me.
You would know better than I, for sure.... and I'm sure there are many disreputable lawyers, police, etc.... but, eehhhh, I think you and I would disagree on how rampant you seem to believe it to be. - JamesJM
