Captured by the Germans. Luckily, as she told me, the Germans were good about Prisoner Exchanges, especially Medical personnel. Anyway......She LOVED MASH. She said, of course there were some silly things that were way off. But she saw a lot of things with the show that struck home. My Ex and I visited her down in Punta Gorda and she really told me a LOT about her experiences. My ex Mother In Law was STUNNED when she heard that she told me so much because she was usually very quiet about it. Like taking random Sniper fire at Normandy. She said the very worst thing she saw in any of the Wars was being assigned to help people in a Liberated Concentration Camp. Not to be arrogant but I think she told me more than others because of my sincere interest in WWII and not just wanting to hear a Juicy Story or two. She retired as a Full Bird Colonel in 1971. VERY cool lady who you could chat with and not act like people were beneath her. I was really sad when she passed about 15-16 years ago.
