about the pigs feet. Tried them once and never again. My Dad... hell, ALL his generation around here, loved them. I did not inherit that gene.

This Santa Fe is on Shields and Maroa. (half block off). And it's a mystery to me. The only two Basque restaurants I was familiar with when I frequented them were the Basque Hotel in west Fresno, long closed down and the one I went to most often..... and the Santa Fe by the train station in Fresno. Whether this current Santa Fe and the old one by the train station are related, (moved), I do not know. If so, it's either new ownership or perhaps kids took over? I don't know them... HOWEVER....

Yesterday a rather amazing thing happened. When I was growing up there were two families that lived very near my home... the Aramuspi's (sp?) and the Ethcheberry's. The Aramuspi's I remember only by name but they did live close by. Johnny Etcheberry was the last of my Dad's generation to live here but his family had moved on. Yesterday at the Santa Fe I ran into representatives of both families. Both older than me, (if you can believe that), and both remember me as the 'little kid neighbor'. I did not remember either of them.
