Damn smoke alarm was chirping in my living room. Low battery.... annoying as hell. Luckily I had the right size batteries.
Smoke alarm is about 13' off the floor... so brought in my 10' step ladder. I had replaced the batteries and was headed down (I have no business being on a ladder these days) when I misjudged what step I was on... there was one to go when I stepped off.... not good.
Hitting the floor I lost my balance and went over backwards, out of control... AND... landed directly on my nice cushiony sofa. No injuries.... just embarrassment as my fall was witnessed by my wife, daughter, and granddaughter. My daughter had warned me, "Dad, you should NOT be up on that ladder". Actually she was rude about it... "Get down NOW you're going to kill yourself".
Well, my manhood was at stake. Deemed incapable of changing a friggin' smoke alarm battery in my living room? I wasn't having it. Thus... well, I already told you. - JamesJM
