mostly movies.... I couldn't help get a little teary eyed because the 'The Greatest Generation' grows thinner and thinner.
Around me, (not a heavily populated area, true), none of the WWII Vets I knew are still with us... there ARE a handful of widows. They are in their 90's.
I used to attend many events attended by many WWII Vets.... today? I almost never come across a WWII Vet.
Related - my grandson's girlfriend has 3 young nieces... oldest is maybe 10? One of them had a school assignment in which she had to write about a military Veteran... didn't have to be WWII, any Vet. She didn't know one. NOT ONE!
Every so often, rarely, I'll be at some event and Vets will be asked to stand for recognition.... even in very large crowds, (for here), very very few of us stand. - JamesJM
