I've seen many houses in my neck of the woods with Christmas lights that have been put up outside for the past month. I think they did it so early because the weather was still nice so it wasn't so tough to do.
We don't put up anything outside anymore. I used to have lights on the roof, around the eaves, the front windows, the porch, outside bushes and trees. It was gorgeous. The last time I did that was about 15 years ago. I usually just put up a tree indoors now and that's it. It takes me about 4-5 days just to do that because I do it all by myself from assembling the tree to stringing the lights (this takes me forever) and then putting on the ornaments. I don't have the energy or stamina that I used to so I do a little, stop and rest, go back and do a little more, stop and rest... so I'm able to get it done but it takes a lot longer these days. I usually start putting it up a couple weeks before Thanksgiving.
