He is-like me-a quiet reflective type of person. That may be why I can identify with what happened. For years the 40 HR was the benchmark for a power hitter. Long before the 50,60,70 steroid fueled modern day power hitter. He hit 39 and simply wanted 40 so bad he began to press and press toward the last few weeks of the season and that one week post season break caused him to think and think and think about one shy of 40. So when the playoffs began that same pressure to just hit one more HR just overcame him. If he had hit just one HR in the playoffs he may have been off and running and we could be looking ahead to the NLCS
