and it's understandable with the pain med abuse running rampant these days.

Some years ago I took a rookie backpacker on his first backpacking trip..... an extended one, around 200 miles. One night around the campfire I noticed what appeared to me to be an inordinate amount of med's. I inquired... not to be nosey I just asked if he had a health issue I should be aware of.... after all we were days from civilization.

He replied no, he was fine... he had gone to his doctor and explained that he was going to be in the wilderness for 3-4 weeks so his doctor set him up.. pain meds, antibiotics, you name it he had it. he was not from the USA... can you imagine a doctor here doing that? - JamesJM
