I still pull for the Cubs but don't find myself that much invested with them. The Cubs fan base has become more of a Social Gathering. I was THRILLED to finally catch a game at Wrigley in 2019 but I looked around saw a LOT of casual fans. Cubs Management is making $$$$$$ of that with little pressure to MAINTAIN a good team.
2003 Playoffs. I was FREAKING PISSED after I heard what that Bartman kid went through. Enough to where I damn near stopped watching the Cubs totally. I was disgusted with the Cubs fan base. You had to DIG to find anyone who saw what the REAL problem was......The CUBS choked!! Dusty Baker did NOTHING to settle Pryor down. Cubs botched a GIMME double play....and STILL could have won it the next game!!! But no.....They all go after a young man who went after a foul ball coming down fast at him......Along with TEN - FIFTEEN OTHERS who were reaching up for the ball!! EIGHT runs in the inning but...YEAH...It was Bartman's fault ??? All of Cubs Nation from the team to 90% of the fans came across as Cry Baby Losers after that series.
In 2016, when they finally won it all, I was very happy but NEARLY as ecstatic as I was when the Rams won SB 34.
