This is only semi-related to your post...

Quite a few years ago I was called down to my old High School to help sort and identify various band instruments, material, stored up over the many years of Tranquillity High Band History.

Sheet music, old marching uniforms, and best of all.... instruments. French Horns, Tuba's, Clarinets, Flutes, Cornets and Trumpets, Odoe's, Saxophones, and on and on and on. Fascinating! AND, beautiful. They used to put their hearts into manufacturing those instruments.... but alas...

No 'stories' to go along with them. Who had played them... where are they now... do they still play?

My favorite 'find' while going thru the inventory was a piece of sheet music with a hand written notation on it - "Jimmy's Solo". My band director, Mr. Carr, had written that in for a solo I played during our bands spring concert... my senior year. They allowed me to keep it.
