Never heard of it before, but I would imagine you mount it to a gun and it simultaneously illuminates the target and provides a sighting reference. The mount would have to provide for some adjustment to "sight in" the gun to the crosshair. A laser would not provide any illumination of the target. Apparently a feature on "tactical" flashlights, but appears to be a lot more popular in shooter games than in real situations.
