Anyone recall the Freak Storm that hit West Memphis, Arkansas in Dec 1987??

April 02, 2023 04:11PM
60 miles North of there, I stood outside my Dorm to check out the weather. Kept hearing it might be crazy. Thing was....It was 42 degrees??? I figured...Just how crazy can it get, being that cool???? In just 45 minutes, the Temp jumped from the low 40s to UPPER 70s!! Storms EXPLODED over the whole Mid South region. Blytheville had 3-4 tornadoes in the area. West Memphis got obliterated. I remember a young girl was killed at a Motel that was damaged just off I-55. I can still hear the erie sound of Tornado Sirens on the base and in small towns in the distance. All hell broke loose for 45 minutes and then POOF!! The skies cleared and temps dropped to the low 30s! I honestly thought that was more wicked than the "Storm Of The Century" that hammered the extreme Southeast in March of 1993.
