I've seen them a couple times in my life kinda sorta , but nothing like what they were Thursday night

every couple years we'll get a heads up , that Northern Lights are possible here in northern Iowa , but most of the times , nothing really comes of it

alot of things have to line up , weather wise , usually it's cloudy or crappy out , and even if the northern lights were happeneing , we wouldn't be able to see it

the couple times I'd had seen them , it was barely visible , and you had to get out in the country to see them

but Thursday was different , nice calm weather , clear skies , and they were pretty spectacular , and they lasted for hours , , the videos don't do it justice , as the videos are sped up

I live right on the Iowa / Minnesota border

if I was smart , I would have brought some Pink Ployd with us.....................lol
