Avalanches.... I'm one of those 'dumb' and 'unaware' types. I only think of avalanches as occurring on the truly huge mountains... like Tahoe, or the Alps in Europe... but even China Peak here near Fresno has avalanche control. I did not know that until my grandson told me about it. THIS year they've REALLY been working hard at avalanche control.

I don't think I've ever even had a single avalanche thought while skiing at China Peak. Just didn't seem possible to me.. but it is, it very much is. - JamesJM
