I started Boot Camp, in Lackland AFB, San Antonio on 3 Feb 1986. I was VERY eager to get any news on the Challenger. Being tall, I was ALWAYS in the front third of the 4th row (Squad) when we marched. That meant I was on the far right and had a clear but very brief glimpse of a USA Today paper box that we would pass every morning. LOLOL At 18, my eyes/ vision were AWESOME. Having to keep my head straight, I'd cut my eyes over as we marched past and I would TRY to catch the headlines. It would not be till I got to Chanute Ill, for Tech School, before I could digest the details.
