I find old cassettes here and there in the house when I'm going through stuff.. I don't have the heart to throw them out.. I was pretty muc an LP guy only, but did start scoring some cassettes when I got a car with a working cassette player.. Man, things were so much cooler back then..
8 tracks.. When I started working in the record store in 1980, we still had an entire wall of 8 tracks and we sold them like hotcakes.. But, slowly they started getting phased out - especially when CD's started trickling in.. The only thing about 8 tracks that annoyed me was when they faded out to change tracks.. However, when you recorded your own, it would just BANG an change tracks..
I remember my brother finally giving in buying an 8 track.. we were both into rack mount stereos and both had our own monster racks - but only with turntables - no tapes.. I remember when he got that 8 track it was like a whole new world opened up... it was pretty cool to be able to record stuff.. the only thing that outdid the 8 track purchase was when he and I went in on a VHS player/recorded - right when they came out.. Life changed that day for us both.. It was a pretty exciting time in life..
Friendship is like peeing your pants.. Everybody can see it, but only you can feel the warmth..
