I have problems awarding that call to Michigan on a narrative level. They muff the snap on that play and when they finally gain possession in order to make a football play, they get stopped behind the line of scrimmage—the play is a fourth down, they surrender possession.
To get awarded another set of downs when they failed to execute a first down on the most critical offensive play of the game seems bad form, especially when targeting was debatable.
If Michigan wins, the narrative is that they were lucky.
