I was never that impressed with Akers. Some thought he was another Gurley which he is not.
With consistent strong blocking he is maybe a plus back, but he isn't a 1500 yard guy much less a 2K yarder. I preferred our other back but we just released him. I don't know what KW can do because they're giving all the snaps to Akers when we need to evaluate our depth.
We absolutely need to draft at least one HB and maybe two. We also need a real FB. We need another TE. And we need a real OL. If we want a real running game we need all these pieces and for our QB and WRs to come back healthy. I would draft the top TE with our high second. Probably can get the top or second best TE there. Higbee has been on and off this season and we have nothing behind him. Never replaced Mundt. Never replaced Everett. I think that is priority one. Next we take a center. Can't run up the middle without one. Then, we draft a big mean RB. A Dillon, Bettis, Earl, Czonka, Riggins type. Next, I want a safety. A smart fast one. A young Weddle. If one of these is available earlier jump on that pick. I was hoping Lake was that but haven't seen him. After that I pick the best FB I can find. Watch the Niners. Their FB cleans out holes on every play. We need that. The rest is our second RB, more OL and unfortunately we need to find another DE and edge type. We need to fill a lot of holes.
