I was 15 at the time, living in the Ozarks, after growing up in Long Beach until 74. The Rams had precious few televised games each year so they were my big deal. It really looked like we were going to win that one and the gloom that followed lasted until the GSOT. And yes, that kind of football seemed more personal and captivating back then when MOST of your heroes stayed with the team for several years. Now it resembles pick up basketball teams with very few core players with allegiance to one organization.
