They really would turbocharge their D (under any DC) with an improved outside pass rusher who can also set the edge. Burns could fill that role but the cost would be astronomical. Then again, he’s a proven commodity (no risky draft pick), young, and healthy. Definitely a long term near-elite player.
However…
Rams have such limited cap dollars and premium picks AND they have other glaring upgrade needs.
At least one OL
RB (possibly even starter quality)
TE (probably 2, making Higbee expendable)
CB
S
Backup QB (Mayfield would be perfect if affordable under a creative contract structure?)
All these things will take either cap dollars or draft picks.
Good news is that this particular draft is loaded at both RB and TE, and decently stocked with promising edge players so I fully expect Snead to take full advantage of that fortunate confluence of Ram need and talent availability.
What to do?
Well, my current preference is to keep our premium draft picks and let the talent fall to us through at least round 5. If Snead hits on all 3 picks we could find ourselves with 3 new studs at needed positions. But I don’t know if Snead can hold himself back, tbh.
