Apples to oranges when looking at the talent level. Akers is not in the same hemisphere as those RB's.
Akers ability as a RB does not warrant a starting job when you consider the fumble rate.
Fumble rate, if there is a large enough sample, is a true apples-to-apples comparison, imo.
Fan perceptions can be misleading. It appears that Akers is in the ballpark there with 3 Ram RB studs.
Yes, but Akers isn't a stud. Those old enough to remember Wendell Tyler can remember that he had a higher than normal fumble rate. He was far superior to Akers as a runner
Akers just isn't good enough to keep around as our starter considering his fumble rate. The others mentioned above have a much higher value because of their superior talent.
I can understand your argument that you don’t want to keep Akers.
But to justify dumping him just for his fumble rate seems misplaced.
