One of the things noted by the Rams Radio broadcast team was the arm of Baker
He can wing that thing downfield, and the other QBs on this roster don't have that firepower.
He missed to Tutu on a deep try but certainly after seeing that effort the Raiders had to adjust.
And, in turn, it opened the field up.
For me, overall, Baker is a much better talent than what we had rostered.
Perhaps the expectations were too tall for him. Perhaps the coaching wasn't all that great for him back east.
Sometimes it is all about fit and finish.
From the first pass to Van Jefferson (was a much tougher throw than Al or Herbstreet chatted up) to the first strike to Ben Skowronek it was obvious that Baker has more ability to operate in negative environs than the other QBs on this roster.
It's quite possible that with no pressure to absorb that much of the playbook, and just playing backyard football that it fits his strengths better.
I thought the other thread asking what he does as an encore is very worthy.
The tundra of Green Bay hasn't been kind to this team recently. And there's no expectation that will change.
But it's another opportunity to let some playmakers make plays. If the OL will provide an extra beat, this Sooner QB can allow some others to take the load off the backfield.
Baker may fit with this offense much better than any figured. He was fine working play action. In the mold of Goff, with your back to the defense, and getting them to stall with the threat of RB making an explosive, it does give Baker a shot to operate. He's also very gifted with those feet. If it's not there? Take off. To a fault. Or roll and take a look.
What didn't work so well we're the jet sweeps. Perhaps we'll see that action and Baker keep and work it deep?
No doubt this certainly adds some entertainment to the balance of the year.
