Enjoy you're take 43
Something has got to give in the way solving the issues along the line
as far as priorities.......
QB
LOT
Edge
.........for me now?
Safety over Corner
It just feels like this club right now needs a hallmark Safety
The Old GM of the 9ers put Safety in the quad - fecta.
I expect they sign one of their FA offensive linemen?
Allen or Edwards
While I'm not in the camp that either aren't replaceable, consistency and that group of five usually need to "gel."
For me, I'd stay with the Power 5 in the draft.
I like what I'm seeing the big schools. Most of the names I like seem to have a high grade, so there is that. I expect the club to sell their 2nd rounder for '23 and their 1st for '24 for a big name vet. Either a OL, or an edge.
That’s a lot to unwrap, leaf, but here goes…
I can’t figure out Morris’ thinking on CB, tbh. Should he abandon the Ramsey ‘star’ strategy? And why not give Durant and Rochell some snaps outside to see if they’re potentially NFL caliber players? Heck, maybe we have sufficient CB talent already on the roster and don’t even know it? Might save a good draft pick for another position. My position is test the youngsters in these remaining games and sit Long and Hill at times to do so because there’s nothing to lose.
You’re preaching to the choir about Safety. I love Scott’s intangibles but maybe we need 2 safeties in the draft. ‘Course, Yeast and Lake need a decent 6 game test drive first. Again, we may have a couple of gems there and not even know it. I was kinda impressed with Yeast the few times I’ve seen him.
As to Allen and Edwards? Allen is under contract but I’d love an upgrade there and I think Shelton is a slight upgrade. Problem is that if Shelton is our OC who is the new backup OC? Draft? I’ve seen enough of Edwards. He’s a goner imo.
Regarding offseason priorities? Here’s mine and in order although will be some combo of draft and FA:
Edge. Might need 2 if they offload Floyd. I’m serious. This is a gaping hole in our D.
LOT. Could be Jackson but might be solid FA. I’m hoping for FA so Jackson could slide to LG.
TE. Loaded TE draft so this should be easy.
RB. Again, loaded RB draft so should be easy.
CB. All depends on Durant, Rochell, and Kendrick as to Ram strategy here. Might be a strong need, might be just a depth/development need.
S. Currently a hole in our D game. Test Yeast and Lake. If they impress then this is back burner but if they struggle then this position moves up the priority list.
LOT and LG are tricky depending on how Rams strategize. If they go the FA route for LOT then Jackson would be perfect as LG. But if they can’t get that ‘right’ LOT then Jackson is almost certainly our LOT with Boom as backup. In this case we still have a hole at LG although they may choose to draft a potential starter as well.
Our few high draft picks will go very fast depending on FA success, that’s for sure. And Snead better hit on both the 2nd and the 3rd or we’re behind the 8-ball.
Yeah, Snead might well choose to trade premium picks, including future 1sts, for a player at a position that he sufficiently values. Like LOT or Edge, for example? He was willing to trade the farm for Burns, remember?
Lots of moving parts for Rams this offseason, that’s for sure. Kinda fun to try to solve the puzzle this early, anyway.
I do think that if Rams can successfully upgrade 6 key positions that they will be in the conversation for the SB.
