You cut Floyd and suddenly you have two OLB/EDGE spots to fill, and we've had a difficult time filling just one. If Hollins were still on the roster, maybe.
Yes, he's probably overpaid. ($22 mil. next season) But we've seen his game pick up in the last 6 games. Supposedly he's was injured early. Likewise, if we can excuse AD's lack of sacks because teams are throwing quick passes, then the same goes for Floyd. And you aren't going to get many coverage sacks with our DB's it seems.
Lastly, you have to consider that the Fangio defense places as lot of responsibility on the OLB's. It's their call whether to cover, rush or play the run. There is a reason why he is getting big money. It's not a plug-and-play position.
That said, we really need to find his replacment sooner than later.
