Maybe McVay was the perfect type of coach to bring in after a Fisher. Fisher gave this team a physical hard nosed demeanor which McVay changed into a perfect killing machine. Maybe now we have had too much cerebral for the last few years, and need an injection of more pure monster testosterone. I am not saying jettison McVay for Fisher but we may in fact need some of the physicality and eye for players who can bring physicality on our roster as a talent evaluator/and or motivator. The Bucs team that won their first Super Bowl had tons of talent but maybe needed that little something that Gruden could bring to them (as well as intimate knowledge of the Raiders weaknesses) to get them that ring but over time it declined because then now lacked Dungy's discipline. The Niners beat the Chargers but not the way the Niners beat the Rams. The Chargers employ a similar scheme with similar players however they haven't been in the McVay new school above the shoulders type practice environment for an extended period yet. Fisher in an advisory position could point the team towards OL like Saffold instead of the type we have been drafting, running backs like Gurley instead of the type we have been drafting, no Tutus and hidden gems on defense that can tackle, intimidate and dominate. (Sigh) and also argue for a more aggressive type of defense.
