I am still in on TTA. I really can't explain why he doesn't play. I've read all kinds of reasons.
They don't smell right. The few plays he got he did well including that beautiful deep diving catch against the Cowboys. Some think he's too dumb to learn the playbook. Okay, fine, but he ran many plays when he was ACC offensive player of the year at Louisville. So, I doubt that.
He is stuck behind better players. Sure. Makes sense he would be behind Kupp and AR. But, I was flummoxed when VJ went down and TTA wasn't starting in his place. SKOW got nearly all those snaps. ??? And now, there's the weirdest explanation of all in that TTA is too small to play in the NFL? Huh? Did he shrink?
WTH? One possible explanation I could see is that with our OL in such disarray and TTA's most viable asset being a deep threat maybe McVay realizes that Stafford won't have the time to drop back seven steps and throw a strike 50 yards down the field. Also, it could be that Stafford's arm is really injured. If both are true then McVay might just redshirt him this season and play him with a better OL and hopefully a healthy Stafford next season. VJ is a FA and we may not re-sign him. SKOW has value but is a horrendous deep threat. Nobody knows what's happening with OBJ either. If he comes back he's our #2, AR becomes our #3 and SKOW, Atwell and McClutch are backups.
What worries me is we do cut TTA and he gets picked up by the Packers and he becomes a superstar. Rodgers could hit him deep. And they have line nobody else.
