I originally thought they should just cut him and move on, but what kind of precedent does that set for the organization and the league as a whole. If you're unhappy with the team that drafted you - just pout and say you don't want to play - then they'll cut you and you're a free agent. Free agency is earned. You think guys who struggled for years on bad teams and waited for their shot to hit the free market would be cool with this situation?

This team has invested in Akers - he was a second round pick. We paid him for a year while he rode a stationary bike. And that's how it should have been, but he's basically played a little more than a season for us. And if they dress him and start him - he kind of has to give it 100 percent. If he doesn't, no other team would touch him.

It's time to pull his big boy football pants on and grind it out. If he plays well -it's more likely he'll be moved next year as teams will be interested.
