I think it shows they tried a couple moves, but were outbid on 1 and just didn't have enough to give and not be totally sold out for next season. To say they think they have no chance for the playoffs I don't see that. Sean has never seemed to have that type defeatist attitude. They have been through a tough stretch with injuries as well as just uncharacteristic play from those who are playing.
Not saying they have a shoo-in chance, it is for sure a tough row ahead, and the whiners have damaged it immensely....they must clear the table the rest of the way in the division, the hawks are an oddity for sure, that QB came out of no where...the chiefs look to be the only real top team left on the schedule.
I think that the staff is going to stop talking so much in these generalities of the game and inside that building talk the real words, maybe the whole team needs a internal meeting themselves as well. The leaders need to clamp down and get real with the newcomers. It's not because the FO thinks they have no chance, they just didn't have what others wanted, or did not want to give it up.
There are winners in that room that know what it takes, now if they can get it together and keep that going for 10 games, that's a hard deal but they did it to themselves in some instances, not all, but some.....Those instances can be fixed, but it won't be easy.
