Only this season? Seriously?
Look, I’m gonna be brutally honest here so don’t anyone get their feelings hurt, okay?
Rams OL suffered injuries of biblical proportions. No team could adequately handle such losses. I mean, we’re still starting Bobby freaking Evans, for crying out loud! But would the original healthy starting 5 have been all that? Wouldn’t Humphrey look better at OC? And Edwards has been underwhelming for quite a while now even before injury. Boom has had a lot of injury problems and here we are. I think it’s fair to say that Rams coaches have been overestimating their OL for years. Our running game sucked last year too, remember?
At RB Rams keep drafting players that haven’t produced and/or stay healthy. This has been going on for years. Is that pure bad luck or simply poor evaluation? I’m thinking more the latter.
At TE we’ve still got Higbee and several JAGS. Even drafted Harris last year as a tweener and he can’t make the actives each week. And meanwhile Higbee can’t stay healthy and continues to make critical untimely drops. Carter can’t make the actives either, although some think he’d make a good fullback at least. Point is our TE room is still one deep despite multiple recent draft picks. Simply too many TE mistakes have been made. Is it partially coaching? I dunno. Geez.
Which brings me to Edge. Is there any doubt that this is our biggest need by far despite adding player after player both through the draft and FA? Our edge opposite Floyd is simply deplorable, just a handful of JAGS. An example of extremely poor return on investment in picks and FA.
No question that Snead/McVay have had many successes at other positions, but the results from these 4 positions has sucked Big time.
And most, if not all of these deficiencies have been festering for years, not just in ‘22.
