His offense is predicated on explosive passing plays down the field and he operates under the assumption that the O-line is supposed to adequately block it. Not because they have the talent or blocking scheme, but...because that's how the play is supposed to work - regardless of the defense.
Sure, McVay has a variety of tunnel-screens, but it's pretty clear that he hasn't spent a whole lot of time trying to incorporate mismatches into his short game. That's just not his thing...and it shows. Same goes for his rushing attack - very little innovation (save for the Skow/FB experiment).
Just wondering if there's an offensive coordinator out there (college or pro) that McVay respects/trusts enough to listen to when said OC says:
Hey coach? This is what I think Shanny is doing to us on defense. I think I know how we can put our people in a better position to succeed, but we're gonna need to break a couple of tendencies.
