You remember well however Unitas was hurt in the preseason and Morrall started every game while he was out. Johnny was healthy by the playoffs but Shula stuck with Morrall so a future HoF QB lost his job due to injury. It was a bad decision by Shula and pretty controversial at the time. But most just seem to remember Namath who didn't even throw a TD pass, it was the Jets RB's that shined, Snell has over 100 yds rushing. Joe had a good game though and even Unitas had a pick. But we both know that teams with a -4 TO rate will lose 99% of the time...heh.
IMO, it was Namath's pre-game guarantee, his Hollywood playboy demeanor and playing in NYC that put him in the HoF. Although I admit like you, I just don't like the guy, he's a pompous drunk still living off that one great win.
