Fan and fanatic are seen differently these days. Fan is defined as having a strong enthusiasm for something.
I'd even make the argument that it shouldn't been considered fanhood to criticize the your team every step of the way. That's more of a casual fanhood to me. But that's just the therapist in me lol.
