I think McVay is breaking him in gradually, like he does his players. When he sees Coen as thoroughly indoctrinated, completely trusted to take over the system and run it as McVay does, he might be given a freer hand.

If it gets to that point, Coen'll be gone, but I just don't think that's how it works under McVay. Coen understands that and seems fine with it. However, if the Rams offense doesn't impress this season, Coen may not be the hot commodity he's hoping for.

2020 - Kevin O'Connell
2019 - Nobody (Jedd Fisch was Asst. Offensive Coordinator but there was no Offensive Coordinator. In 2020 he left to be the QB coach for the Patriots)
2018 - Nobody
2017 - Matt LaFleur. LaFleur left after the season to take Offensive Coord. job with the Tennessee Titans. He was with them for one season. In 2019 he was hired as Head Coach of the Packers.
