Couple of things. First, what's with this sentence?

Back in training camp, Jefferson underwent a knee procedure to clean up a knee issue that bothered him at the end of last season.

Secondly, how is it possible that a guy who was supposed to ready for game 1, without setbacks, is now, hopefully, going to play in week 8?
