I was never that impressed with Akers. Dude has a lot of good press when he was drafted by the Rams, but he never really has shown he's a number one running back. When we got TG30 you could see the speed, the power, the moves.
He could run over you and around you and by you. And if you had his dead to rights he'd hurdle you. Never saw anything like that in Akers. Now, it's probably unfair to compare him with an offensive player of the year, but, that's what Rams fans are used to. Lawrence McCutcheon, Dickerson, Bettis, SJ, Marshall, TG30. HOF type backs throughout our history.
He's not even as good as Greg Bell. And it's not that I don't like him. I do. I cheer for him. But, the talent isn't there. Hendu is more talented. And maybe Kieren is too. We probably should've tried to keep Sony and we'll probably trade for a RB before the year is through. Akers wasn't all that before tearing up his Achilles. And less than all that isn't what's what.
