Very lame negotiating ploy. You don't leave a Super Bowl champion winning team for around the same money for a team who has never won a SB. Von got a ridiculous huge mega contract to join the Bills. So far, OBJ can't play for anybody. He only has one working knee. When/if he is able to actually work out for teams he will/could get offers. No team would offer a big contract to an injured player who is months away from playing. If at all. So, I'm glad to hear his name. Makes me smile because the last time I saw him play my favorite team won the SB. In the meantime, with Van and Harris hurt, Tutu, SKOW, Powell and McCutcheon are getting valuable reps to build depth. If/when OBJ is healthy and we do re-sign him we would have 1. CK (best in the biz) 2. OBJ (gets 2 spot back. Knows system excelled here. Better speed than...3. AR (All raving about him. How is a #3 CB gonna cover him?) 4. VJ (a probable 1K WR coming back) 5. Tutu. (Camp reports are all calling him a new talent. He's bigger and stronger and hungry. Blazes. What 3rd or 4th CB can stay with him? 6. Powell. (Big time KR/PR. 7. SKOW. (Not sure we keep 7 but had some nice games for us) 8. Harris (big and fast. Not sure how he makes team right now. Probably needs OBJ not to come back and maybe VJ too.
He might need to heat out SKOW. Maybe he beats our Powell and Tutu takes the returns. At this point we try to stash him. McCutcheon? Practice squad.
