Not strange...intended to send a message. This is an extension of the McVay principle of complimenting others when things go well and blaming self when things turn south. It's what Mike Tomlin calls not "seeking comfort" in accolades or excuses. It's a mindset that sets him apart from those other 5. It keeps him working like he's a street free agent but helping teammates like he's a paid assistant coach. I would say he's unique that way, but we have several players and coaches that live out very similar values (Whit, Staff, Woods, Wagner, Morris).
