...I wouldn't get out of bed each morning with various aches and pains from mis-spent youth over-doing it in sports if it were still the 1960s and 70s. A few weeks ago, I had a minor surgery related to an old basketball injury. Every so often, someone would jump up and come down on my toes. I lost the nail on my big toe of my left foot several times from getting it stomped on. On that foot, I also took a direct hit from a fastball while catching. After all those injuries, the nail became abnormal, and I have had many years of in-grown nails on the big toe. Those nails also became vulnerable to fungus -- YUCK! So I finally had them removed permanently. This requires surgery to remove the nail and the matrix so that it will never grow back.
