Long before our time, the NFL hired contractors to play for so little money that they had to work fulltime jobs during the season to make ends meet. In fact, they always followed the money as mercenaries playing for one team one week and a different team the following. Times change and 50 years from now, if the NFL still exists, it will change even more.

I have no issue with any player seeking their own way however that may be. Everyone's motivations are different from money to family to health to other interests. They are entertainers here for our enjoyment and their well-being (to me) will always be more important than my own personal gratification of fandom.
