In those days, with no free agency's, most players were simply contracted to their teams. And as you know, certain teams were always at the top, and others were always bottom feeders.... free agency changed that. But I completely agree with you. Because the other thing that free agency did was to put an end to names like... The Fearsome Foursome, The Steel Curtain, The Purple People Eaters, The Doomsday Defense, The Killer Bee's, The Hogs, etc.... In short, it killed long term team identities, which I thought was one of the coolest things about football.

But at least the Rams seemed to have put together a formula that works for now....
