Fisher is like Schottenheimer was... They could both build regular season competitive teams but could never really figure out how to go from regular season competitive to Super Bowl competitive.
I didn't want Fisher in the first place but I think he was a good choice, at the time, in retrospect. I also think Fisher set this team up nicely for McVay and McVay used mostly the same players and a totally different vision to take the team to the next step.
Yep, Fisher was/is the butt of many jokes but not sure the Rams would have been as good as 8-8 or 9-7 during those years if Fisher wasn't there. He did bring a sort of toughness to the team that wasn't there for many year preceding his arrival.
Glad he's gone but he served a purpose.
