Regardless of who wanted him they went with upside with the pick. Now they may have to wait for him to develop and they have a very powerful and loaded Rams roster to compete with in the interim. It's quite a pickle.
At this point I don't think Shanahan would have any problem getting another gig. But the GM is another matter. So what we may see is a power struggle and unless the owner is an idiot (which I think is possible) Shanny would come out on top. But my hope of course is things sour and he moves on.
Either way they are in trouble in this division. They're not in a position to win it unless the Rams suffer key injuries. Shanahan is the best OC in the league but he can only do so much and I think the Rams are going to shut down his run game this year and deal him an 0-2 on the ledger.
