Lance played a grand total of 16 college games, at non-D1 school.
I don't care who you are, you cannot develop in that short amount of time. Everything is "potential". But "potential" doesn't win games; proficiency wins games.
And... with Jimmy G in San Fran, Lance's only development came with leftover time from getting JG ready to play each week.
The Lance thing was a total head scratcher to me. What a huge risk with so much draft capital. Other than the oooh aaaah athleticism and size, what else is there?
He might be good some day. But I'm skeptical that that "someday" is this year or next unless they severely limit what they ask him to do. He isn't Aaron Rogers sitting on the bench behind Brett Farve. Rogers was a highly developed College QB who merely needed to learn the NFL offense and system. I don't think that at all describes Trey Lance
