How do you see the backup QB competition playing out in preseason? I have nothing to go by but 'gut instinct' but I'm leaning toward seeing Perkins beat out Wolford. From what I read on this board, and a few other places, sure seems like Wolford is a beat of the 'teacher's pet'... meaning McVay really likes him as backup? That could make it tough for Perkins, no doubt.
You bring up a good point, Jimmy.
Honestly, I think the Rams like both QB’s. They kept Perkins on the 53 because they feared losing him if they tried to get him on the PS. That speaks volumes.
We’ll see how their competition goes this camp but I will say that I suspect that there is a legit chance for Perkins to claim that backup spot. If Perkins can pull it off then Wolford becomes expendable. Maybe even a player that Rams could trade away. That would fetch a future pick AND save a very valuable roster spot for what promises to be a very competitive camp for quite a few ‘next year’ prospects.
It’s all up to Perkins right now. He’s got to earn this on the field, pure and simple.
