If you just talk player vs player I would rather have Williams than Hill. Even with Williams having a down year last year after a great year in 2020.[/quote

i agree with you Bill, player vs player, nothing else considered give me Williams. Even Williams "down year" ( 9 PD's isn't necessarily bad) last year looks better than Hill's down year last year with the Browns. at least on paper - i don't know what Hill's circumstances were in Cleveland last year - he only played 12 games vs Williams 14.

unfortunately the rams cap magic isn't infinite and they have to allocate that magic over 22 positions and their backups so i'm thrilled with Hill at 1.5M given his history in the system and relationship with Ramsey and our precious little cap space left. time will tell ...

I totally agree that it was a great move to get Hill at this point for that price with the Rams cap situation. I just separate that from thinking that Hill is an upgrade, or even on par with Williams as a player.

The other thing I'm wary about is projecting rookies as instant contributors. We have no idea when all those DB draft picks are going to be able to be counted on to contribute. They're all still unproven rookies. But the Rams certainly have a good record of finding later round picks who can play and they've been very good at developing them.
