I can't comment on too many specific players because I have studied this Draft less than any since the early '90s. Between the season going until 2/13 and the Rams not having even a top 100 pick I just wasn't all that motivated to examine too many individual players. I'm sort of looking forward to just sitting back and seeing how the top two rounds play out. Once it gets to about the 85th overall pick I'll start looking at BPA.
But this is what I would hope they come away with and where a curve ball might come in:
- if there is a wildcard position that may get taken higher than any of us expect my guess is TE. All depends on if the Rams think the postseason performances of Blanton and Hopkins were anomalies or not. But I think TE depth could be addressed with one of the top 2 picks. Maybe.
- I HOPE the Draft falls where there is good value at CB at 104. That would be my ideal position to draft in the late 3rd. Coby Bryant is the guy I like best.
- I can see Edge being take at 104 or the 7th round. Hard to say. I don't think they'll press the issue.
- I'd love to see a quality OG taken with one of their top 3 selections, wherever those fall. I don't think they're entirely convinced the starting RG is on the roster, I think Shelton is best suited as the (backup) center and Edwards is a free agent next spring.
- I think a safety gets drafted by the 6th round. I think Rapp is a mid-October trade candidate (like Kenny Young last fall).
- I'm all for taking a RB somewhere when the value presents itself. Not at 104 but anywhere after that.
- I really hope they don't take a WR this year. Assuming OBJ returns they are solidly 5 deep at WR through 2023 plus Harris as a hybrid TE/WR and Powell as the WR6/KOR this year.
- Punter in the 7th.
Maybe with a 6th if they really love someone.
