I'd go get a CB in the 3rd. The 4 I'd target are:
Cam Taylor-Britt
Coby Bryant
Zyon McCullum
Alontae Taylor
They all have size, scheme fit and are aggressive in both phases of the game. Rochell is unproven and I just don't trust Long. Rams might think different, and I trust them, but this is how I'd play it.
If all 4 are gone, I pivot to a OL that can challenge for the RG spot immediately or an edge rusher that isn't a prospect and can at least give you some pass rush juice.
Sean Rhyan and Ed Ingram are the 2 IOL I'd look at right away if available. The edge rushers would be Myjai Sanders, Kingsley Enagbare and SAm Williams.
If all those guys are gone, I'm grabbing a TE or S. Most likely a S.
After that I am maneuvering around the draft and grabbing IOL or combo OL that could play either way. Edge rusher, a running back a TE and a S. If I get a CB in the 3rd. Maybe a WR that slips. A punter if I like one late.
The TE needs to be able to block for 12 personnel. Has to. We have enough pass catchers, we need that blocker. Ruckert, Otten, Ferguson, Kolar and Bellinger can all do that. I'm getting one.
I need a 4th safety, Rapp is a big nickel or box safety IMO, Scott is the best of the bunch and Fuller is coming off injury. IDK what happened with Burgess, but he can't find the field. There are a ton with upside, Nick Cross is super intriguing to me. As is Markquese Bell. Blankenship is a 3rd. There are plenty more scattered throughout this draft.
At RB, I want a guy that can catch and carry his own water between the tackles with at least some success. If Spiller spills down the draft, I'd think long and hard about him, Strong Jr gave the Bison fits for years and that means something, Chandler is a perfect fit. Price would work wonderfully as well. ZaQuandre White also fits.
If I do grab a WR, I need one that brings something unique to the table. I have Kupp, Allen and Jefferson as my starters. maybe OBJ later on. Thats a dang nice 3 and 4 deep. Skow is fine, but what does he bring other than toughness? Tutu is a speed merchant that better stay healthy and he better know the playbook inside and out. Harris needs time, and I am still not sure I don't work him into the TE room. So if I'm adding a WR, I want a bugger deep threat or a really physical guy that can take jet sweeps like Woods did.
Some names that fit the bill: Alec Pierce as a size/speed guy. Under Kupp's tutelage , he could be hard to stop. Tyquan Thornton is 6'-2" and a sub 4.3 and he plays fast and explosive. Drummond is a jack knife that would bring a unique twist to LA. A name in round 6 I'd like to have on my team is Emeka Emezie.
I lost Miller and Obo in FA. I need 2. Floyd is 1, but after that, the water gets murky. Lewis' health is a big red flag, Garrett had a redshirt, and Hollins (who I like) has his own injuries. Lewis is a great edge on early downs if he can stay healthy. I need a pass rusher for sure. The other I'd like (preferably early) can do both. Thats a tall task in the back half of the draft.
My guys: (initials after name mean R=run defender mainly P= pass rush specialist B=both run and pass defender)
Sam Williams (P)
Dom Robinson (P)
Enagbare (R)
Sanders (P)
Malone (P)
Barno (P)
Gunter (
Allen (
Onujiogu (P)
I'm taking 2.
So I have a CB, an IOL, 2 Edge rushers, a S, a RB or WR (maybe both) and a TE. Add in a punter at the end and thats 8 or 9 with 8 picks. I am not forcing anything, but I for sure am not forcing a RB or WR. I would not at all be opposed to grabbing a 2nd CB.
I am not touching a QB, nor a Hendo clone, or a 6' route running, ave speed WR. Beavers is the only ILB I'd touch, and thats because I think he could play inside or on the edge. No Slot CBs. No midget WRs.
